Dot NAME Domain Names

Established in 2001, the Dot NAME top-level domain is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domains can be personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are popular by. At first, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to secure john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered 3rd-level domain names remained operational.
